On May 13, 1944 Anne wrote in her diary:
“Our chestnut tree is in full bloom. It’s covered with leaves and is even more beautiful than last year.”
The Anne Frank Center USA is seeking seven (7) institutions to receive ownership of a tree sapling, taken from the mature, aging horse chestnut tree that resides behind the Secret Annex in Amsterdam, where Anne Frank, her family and friends spent two years in hiding. Click HERE to go to the New York Times article on saplings from the chestnut tree, which also includes an interview with Yvonne Simons, Executive Director of the Anne Frank Center USA.
You are invited to submit a proposal for taking ownership of one of the tree’s saplings, under the conditions outlined in a Request for Proposal (RFP), which can be downloaded by clicking HERE.
