The chestnut tree that Anne Frank wrote about in her diary while she was in hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam during World War II was toppled by wind and heavy rain Monday, August 23, 2010. The tree broke off completely at a height of approximately one meter above the ground. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
