JULIA BETH SCHROEDER is a student at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, New York, and has worked tirelessly there to improve relations among different cultures. Ms. Schroeder has been proactive through her work for the Interact Club, which she founded to promote friendly international relations and to serve as a pathway for cultural exchange among high school students. When a local Sikh Temple was burned, Ms. Schroeder was instrumental as a fundraiser to help rebuild it. She also acted as an advocate to enlighten the public about the Sikh culture. As a result of her efforts, she was invited to go to India to meet with his holiness Baba Versa Singh, a spiritual leader of the Sikh sect. Said Jamie Ruzekowicz, a social studies teacher at Julia's school, "Rarely do we see a student who gets highly involved in larger global causes. She is an asset to our community and will make an incredible difference in this world."
