STEPHEN SILBERFARB is the Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, Minneapolis, Minnesota. In his capacity as executive director, Mr. Silberfarb brings to light the important issues of religious freedom and social justice. He has worked tirelessly to promote diversity and to confront racism and prejudice.
Two years ago, Mr. Silberfarb brought together leaders representing various ethnic, religious, and cultural groups to form an organization known as Tolerance Minnesota. A dream of Mr. Silberfarb, this organization is dedicated to promoting diversity and tolerance education in communities and schools. Tolerance Minnesota has helped to form lesson plans and activities to teach students the challenges and benefits of living in a diverse world. The organization has received many awards and has been endorsed by many other organizations throughout Minnesota. Plans are underway to make these resources available nationally.
Susan Shapiro, a colleague of Mr. Silberfarb, said of him, "Tolerance Minnesota-thanks to Stephen's tireless efforts and vision-is connecting with Minnesotans and leaving a positive, lasting imprint."
